CELEBRATING OUR BELOVED FOUNDRESS
The 16th of November was a very special day for all of us at the Generalate and Lourdes Convent, Jayanagar. It was the day of thanksgiving to God for our beloved Foundress Mother Veronica who was recently declared 'Venerable.' The liturgy was made meaningful and inspiring with the combined efforts of the Generalate and Lourdes communities. A special 'Thanksgiving Mass' was offered in the evening at which the Sisters of Mary Immaculate Convent and our neighbouring religious communities, the priests of our parish and those who render their spiritual services to us and the ACAs were present. Rev. Msgr. Jayanathan, Vicar General of the Diocese of Bangalore, was the main celebrant of the Mass. Our Superior General, Sr. M. Susheela A.C., gave a brief evocative exposition on the life of our beloved foundress exemplified through her heroic and saintly practice of virtue and total obedience to the will of God. Msgr. Jayanathan, in his homily, explained the process by which a Servant of God is raised to the honors of the altar. He said that the call to holiness of life is given to all and one can best respond to it through obedience to the will of God, commitment and sacrifice. These graces were prominently seen in the life of our beloved Foundress.
After the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the Sisters and guests gathered in the Lourdes Preparatory School Hall, where our dear Sister Liceria, Vice-Postulator for the Cause of Mother Veronica, briefed the audience about how the Congregation came to be founded by Mother Veronica in France, its transplantation in Indian soil and the growth of the Institute till the present day. The students of Sacred Heart TTI then put up an awe-inspiring programme based on Mother Veronica's call to found the Apostolic Carmel. It was well appreciated by the audience.
We share with you a few pictures below of this memorable event.
